Setting a water softener

To regenerate the full capacity of a water softener, it takes 15 pounds of salt per cubic foot. It is more efficient to regenerate 67 percent of the capacity with a setting of 6 pounds of salt per cubic foot or 75 percent with a setting of 9 pounds per cubic foot. As a rule of thumb, you should use one pound of salt per month per person per grain of hardness.

Hi Joe plumber, I recently purchased a pyrolox sulfur,iron,manganese filter 0.7cu ft item#662p I'm at the stage of putting gravel and media into tank my question is which is media and which is gravel 2bags are black particals one bag brown particals, also I do not see a rubber o-ring between head and tank ,just a white ring an top of tank. is this normal. Thanks Ken

Sorry we didn't notification of your post. The gravel is the larger particle size yet the smaller quantity. There should be an o-ring that goes between the control and the tank. Call customer service if this is missing. Thank you.
